hollister hills IH winter get togeather March 13 14 15

Hi Joe that is not a problem. Just have them see me when they get there so I can let everyone know that they are with us and welcome.

Gabe will have his family 5 total . His Dad and brother + wife's will be there Saturday but, not camping.
My head count is still a bit undecided. Sal and I will be there late Friday night or early Saturday staying till Sunday. Not sure about the kids yet tho.
Stacy will likely bring lisa and jack. He hasn't locke his plans down yet eather

Im in, probably solo this year as most of my wheeling buddies kids have bday parts staurday. Iv opted out of 3yo parts to go wheeling for the weekend. Probably spend Saturday night only.

Do they still allow camp fires? I remember last year a bunch of people brought fire wood. I don't want to haul it down there if it won't get used. scouts get such great gas mileage you know:lol:

Oh yeah, forgot about fire wood.

I have tons of it. Just need to put on the trailer hitch rack on the back.

So this make 2 nights up past midnight working on Scout stuff.

Edit: the rack won't fit as the spare tire is in the way. I would have to put stuff up front to carry wood int he back.

Won't be able to make it up till early Saturday morning. Have these two guys from japan in since last week doing some traning on a new system we bought.
Boss scheduled a going away dinner for them tonight - he'll be buying surf and turf for this one.

I had a great time! Craig, Matt and I drove down Friday morning. We got there after lunch. The weather was warm, 80s, with some light overcast. It had rained recently. Some of the shaded trails had puddles on them. Overall a great time to be out wheelin'

I had a great time (for the most part).

Arrived just before Craig, andy & Matt on Friday.

Proceeded to get a radiator leak on my first run (the u shaped bracket holding the radiator bent & punctured it).

Dave jr gave me some stop leak & it worked fine Saturday.

Lunch was great Saturday & it was good socializing with guys I haven't seen for a few years, as well as meeting some new (to me) people.

Decided to try tank trap around 2 or 3pm & had fun until I broke the ds knuckle in 2.
It took 4-5 hours to drag my rig out.
Thanks to gui & harold, as well as many others for this.

After we dragged it up to the obstacle course, Craig gave me a ride back to camp where we ate a great dinner & then he, along with a dozen or so hecklers welded the knuckle back together. He stated clearly that it was only guaranteed that it would only last for 10 feet.

Later that night myself, Craig & Matt assembled the knuckle & limped my rig onto the trailer where it promptly broke again when the tires were squeezed between the fender wells of the trailer.
Knuckle lasted 40-50 feet.

Just after it happened (on trail):

After we got it up a 45* hill next to the obstacle course:

My axle became a plow.
Yes, my axle is under all that dirt & poison oak:

Carnage part 2... This was just after it broke the 2nd time on the trailer:

Scout on trailer the next morning just before I headed home:

If anyone else got pictures of my rig, please post them or send me a link.. I'd really appreciate it.

Hi mocha Mike, here are a couple from down in tank trap where the carnage was inflicted. I think I'd rather have a wisdom tooth extracted than what you went through to get that Scout extracted. What was the killed winch count?

Mine & gui's weren't working at the end of the day.

I haven't checked mine yet, but I'm hoping it was just overheating/tripping the solenoids.

Edit: and thanks for the beer you gave me at the end hondo.

Haven't seen a picture of the line up yet, so here be one. Don't know why I parked next to jason, makes my poor Scout look like a frigging midget.

Anybody want a t-shirt from hollister?
So far I have
randy large
doc xx large
carl large.

Like Craig said check every nut and bolt... And then some. Then do it again when you get back! This wasn't there before hollister, but was when I got back, and I didn't do anything remotely difficult this time out. Rob can relate to this. Passenger side, front leaf, rear hanger. Anybody ever try the anything Scout replacement hangers, the longer one looks decent.
