Hill Billy Oil Pump Primer Drive

Over the years I've made one of these like 20 times... You never have one when you need one especially when away from home helping a buddy..

Find a 8-10' long piece of 3/8 od (other sizes can work) metal tubing (steel preferably). Straighten it as close as possible and flatten one end about 5/8 long in a vice or with a hammer. Don't crush it all of the way down but enough so it will slide into the pump end but not to loosely. Stick the round end into the drill motor and prime away. It helps to tweak it straight while spinning the drill.

For alignment slide a 3/8 drive socket over the tube from the round end. Select one that will fit over the pump shaft. Electrical tape above the socket will keep it from riding up...

I made one too. It was made from a 3/8" irwin flat wood bit. Ground off the tip, so it was flat, and put it in the extension that came with the kit and wa la.

I broke a distributor trying to get it out of the engine it was stuck in. I ground down the drive gear so now I can just drop it in, put my drill on the shaft and prime away. No need to keep anything lined up since it automatically does that. Tj.
