heater box - paint interior?

'74 scout II rehab of a heater box/core. The box is in decent shape but has some rust both inside and out. I've used Eastwood rust encapsulator and engine bay paint elsewhere and will use that on the exterior of the box. Will it stink every time I use the heater if I paint the inside of the box? Any suggestions on an alternate product to stop the rust in the box interior without potential stink problems?

Oh, and Merry Christmas!!

I think it's a good idea. I used a Rustoleum black paint inside of mine so the surface was smooth and clean, instead of a dirty, rusty one. Any paint smell eventually clears.

Thanks for the input. I went ahead and painted the interior and re-assembled it. It will be a while before I finish other engine bay projects, so it will have plenty of time for the solvents to evaporate thoroughly.
