Has anyone ever seen a high roof version of a scout 80?

I just picked up my 80. It's not too bad body wise but the paint is in need of replacement.. The interesting part is the roof. It's significantly higher than a standard roof.

The rear fenderwells do have a pad on them. I'm thinking that it May have been some sort of people mover (there is a theory that it lived in the uae at one point of time long ago). The top is actually fairly well done, and other than being unconventional, looks almost stock. Also looks like it May have been stolen from a land rover, but I can't imagine they are that similar dimension wise that it would work..

Any ideas suggestions?

Interesting. First time I seen that type of top on an 80. Might be worth your efforts to get a line set ticket for your newly acquired project.

Here is the rear bed. Fairly straight all things considered. And there is enough headroom to sit on the fenderwells (easily)

ohh yeah, you guys can be jealous of my aux gas tank as well.

Looks like it was made to transport people

wasn’t there a Scout 80 camper option could this be that ????

Got the axles lined up. Hzj75 series land cruiser axles. Slightly wider than the Scout stuff. Should work admirably.

I also got the title today. Last time it was titled was in az in 1978. Arizona title has a previous title state of "africa". So, it did go from chicago to africa and back.

Title also has it listed as a 67. Serial number is fc47133a which suggests that it was built in the summer of 1962. Guess that boat ride was a doozy!!!

Find any thing written in french in it?
Also, if it's not to late, check the filters for writing of origin...

There's no telling what that Scout has seen. Especially if it was in the congo or south africa.

Oil bath air cleaner and canister oil filter. I did not seed anything on them although I have not checked much.

The only writing looks like a painted on license plate on the ds rear. But not much is left of it.

Got the LST,
apparently the truck was sent to morocco.
