Growing IH Brood

My wife would like to thank jim price for the 1972 1210 4x4 pickup I got sitting in my field right now.

My wife would also like to thank ken and Mike roth for the 962 Scout 80 sitting right next to it in the field.

Further my wife would like to thank ken roth for passing up the deal on the 1967 1200b 4x4 Travelall sitting in the shop.

But mostly I would like to thank her for the 1965 Scout 80, in the shop next to the Travelall, that she found for me that started it all.

Thanks to Mike mayben and the community for having the knowledge I need to finish up these projects...

the cannibal
1965 Scout 80

  • long term project

  • consuming a 1962 Scout 80
Started out the victim of ravishing cannibals somewhere in washington. After having most of vital organs and part ripped out raw it was left for dead until a mechanic in southern oregon picked it up as a project for his son. It was hobbled back together frankenstein style from the depths of an IH bone yard. But after realizing how much more time would be needed the boy abandoned it in the garage prison.
After years of neglect I picked it up and restored it's passion. Now it's acquired a taste for IH flesh and it's appetite is growing. I don't know how many more scouts it will need before it's satisfied. It's lost it's old nature and seems more tribal and raw.

the sloop john b. (working phase I name)
1967 1200b (converted) 4x4 travel all

  • multi phase project
  • axles from 1972 1210
Spent most of it's life in service to a fishing and hunting guide in medford, or. Most of it's workings are untouched an original. An incredible specimen.
The crew of the sloop john b were known for their robust joy and living the merry life... At least before she sank in the bahamas at the turn of the century. The legend of the ship became a nassau folk song, then eventually a beach boys song. I think this travel all bleeds the fun loving spirit of the sloop john b.

the victim
1972 d1210 pickup
  • 392 4 barrel manifold
  • 8 lug 3/4 Dana axles
  • one May die so many can live
Not much is known about the victim. It was in service as a camper hauler to a millwright for a long time till it threw a short axle shaft somewhere around crescent city, CA. It ended up in mill city after that. Jim price took it home to salem for it's transmission and transfer case. After serving it's purpose there my wife, jim, and I dragged it over to my place screaming and kicking. I don't think it wanted to go.
But it knows it's place now. It will be dismantled, categorized, sorted and stored for those that are in need. I think in the end it's proud not to end up as a chineese tool at harbor freight.

cyborg bionic Scout
1962 Scout 80
Though this Scout is giving up it's engine and some other parts for the nourishment of another, it won't live it's last days in the cannibals cookpot. It might find life again, much like steve austin, put back together from the wreckage. "we can rebuild him — we have the technology."

Them dam thangs iz breedin' in captivity yet again. That's the trouble with tribbles. Since you've exceeded the two binder threshold which seperates the casual owner from the hopelessly addicted junkie, it is my humble duty to inform you that you must now select and declare publicly an appropriate name for your restoration facility so that you will be in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing the resussetation and rehabilitation of the aforementioned junk iron. Have a nice day!:dita:
