Grill question

My square headlight grill is cracked. It seems like they are really expensive because they were only made the last year. My question is will a round headlight grill bolt directly in without any mods?

Yes they will. The mounting holes are identical. Lots of people have done it. If you go that route, I suggest a '75 or earlier as the '76-'79 have a lot of plastic in them. Having said that, if you were to stumble onto a pristine '78 grille for next to nothing, I wouldn't pass it up, plastic or not. I'm just saying the earlier metal versions are more robust if you're going to go to the trouble. The grille you have now is fiberglass and some folks with the right amount of patience have had success with repairing the cracks. I've never cared much for the '80 grille and personally wouldn't waste my time trying to rehab one, but to each his own.
