Gas is spraying out the top

I just rebuilt my Holley model 2300 carb. Now when I try to turn the Scout on gas sprays out of the spout that sticks up next to the butterfly (sorry I don't know what it is called. I think it is a vent or something). Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks a lot and please help, I want to get it running again soon.

The needle and seat is stuck inside your float bowl. You are correct that is the vent to the float bowl that the gas is pouring out of. You can try lightly tapping on the fuel inlet. Or take it apart and see why it is stuck.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I will check those things out this weekend and try to get it figured out. Do you think that it will tear the new gasket if I take it apart again?

When I adjust the needle and seat, it does not seem to affect the float level very much. I can not get the gas level to be at the bottom of the view hole on the side. The fuel is always higher than the view hole and pours out, even when the needle and seat are all of the way up. Does this mean that the float is not adjusted correctly? I did not adjust it at all when I rebuilt the carburetor. Thanks a lot

I messed around with the adjustments all day and finally got it running. Its not perfect yet but it is better.
