Getting ready to drop a 392 in my 73 1110 project. I got the truck as pretty much a basket case. The original 392 was in the bed. It has a borg beck 11 inch clutch bolted to it. Years of sitting outside rusted the pp face pretty bad.
I have a new 11 inch angle link kit I was planning on using in my Scout, but would like to install on the fresh 392. Is there any difference in the throwout bearing collars for the borg beck vs angle link? Looking at the parts manual it doesn't appear so.
In comparing the two pressure plates side by side it looks as though the fingers are not at the same height.

Looks like I will be all set. I took a measurement from the face of the flywheel to the tips of the fingers on the borg beck clutch. Removed it and installed the Dana angle link pp and matching disc. Measured from flywheel to fingers is the same regardless of which style clutch is mounted.

Personally I don't recommend a 11" anglelink clutch behind a 392 as chances are it will start slipping under heavy load plus I have never seen a 392 come from the factory with this style clutch. These are are the lowest in tension when accounting for spring pressure(hope that makes sense) as they only have 6 springs applying pressure. The 11" borg and beck would be the better choice especially one with 15 springs compared to a 12 spring unit(more springs = more tension) or a 12" b&b would be the best candidate overall.

Well, that is a bummer. Looks like a call to fort wayne clutch to have the bb rebuilt. Sad thing is it looks to be fairly new, and very little wear on the disc. Just rusted from sittin outside not covered.
