full width axle vs sprung over scout axles

I have a chance to get full width k5 danna 44 front an 12 bolt rear axles for my Scout. Ive already sprung over my Scout 44s an I love everything about them. They flex great an drive strait. But im looking to go to 35s or 37 soon an I was wondering if it would be better to go full widths for those size tires. My Scout is a daylie driver, its my only truck an I take it to school every day and wheel almost every weekend.

Im not concerned about driving it around town an other cars an parking at school with full width axles I just wanna know if they are better for wheeling or stay with my sprung over Scout 44s. O yeah right now im running 30'' tires on it

The only thing you May gain from the Chevy 44 is the flat top knuckles, which make it easy to install high steer. The 12 bolt isn't an upgrade over a Dana 44. 30 spline axles, the same size ring gear and you end up with c-clips. Imo it is a down grade. Keep what you've got it isn't worth the time and effort.

100,000 sperm and you were the fastest one? If I were you, I would be more concerned with the quality of education I was receiving instead of swapping some axles under my Scout. To answer another part of your question though, you will not gain any strength simply by going with a full width axle over a Scout II axle. A Dana 44 out of a fullsize Chevy truck is not any stronger than a Dana 44 of a Scout.

I think a tap on the brake pedal is in order here. This forum and others like them have never been subject to any manner of ridiculous grammatical guidelines. Some members even go so far as to intenshunullee misspell words for the shear joy of it...oh the horror! Better call out the grammar gestapo. The question I have for you is what the hell gives you the right to insult and berate anybody on this forum for asking a simple question? I'll go ahead and answer it for you as I'm sensing you'll likely struggle to come up with the correct answer...nothing! I'm not part of the administration so I can't tell you where you and your pocket protector and propeller-topped beanie should go. Enjoy reading your roget's thesaurus from cover to cover yet again.

Thanks scoutboy for a minute there I thought we were on pirate ! I will admit that my sons spelling & grammar (& unwillingness to use spell check) are a sad statement on the CA. Public school system. At least he's not afraid to ask questions here that he would get ridiculed due to his lack of knowledge & inexperience (about a vehicle that was built 13 years before he was born) some ware else. Sorry if I sound butt hurt , but come on our job as adults is to encourage the gaining of knowledge ,not discourage it. For that I would really like to take this opportunity to thank IH only Jeff for this site ,& all of you for sharing your encouragement & knowledge.
Thanks .

And thank you to both scoutboy (aided by sailor jerry) and orangeblossom pop for both yawl's participation and your words of advice!

We really like to mess with each other around here, especially our friends and customers which some of us know all too well! We all have to have a really thick skin at times and sometimes we have to use a heavy hand though we try and be very unobtrusive with our moderation.

But our overriding reason to be here is to present factual information and to further the education of anyone who plays with old iron. The very fact that some kidz around here are wanting to learn the old ways, is very encouraging to my jaded old teacher's attitude (fourteen years behind the desk/podium/workbench in both high school and community college environments when this stuff was new!!).

That is exactly why I play this binder university game...my son died four years ago and I have nobody but you folks to pass on the old ways to that were kicked up my butt by an elderly german blacksmith when I was a young know-it-all (yes I did know all there was to know in the universe when I was 11)! And kick my ass he did...in german, the only word of english he ever spoke to me was something that came out like "dum shit!!"...and, he was illiterate to boot!

So...orangeblossom and orangeblossom pop have just kicked it up two notches, yawl both now have scholarships available here at binder u. Scoutboy has been on scholastic probation for the last semester, but he and his posse are due in soon for remediation work and some career counseling. He's finally started to git serious about his lernin' and decide ta pay tension!!

And there is a very distinct difference between good-natured ribbing, which I have been both the giver and the butt of on so many occasions. As Mike alluded to, it's one thing when you know the person and it's clearly meant as an attempt at humor. If we can't have fun at this stuff, why bother? But it's another thing when the sole intent of the post is to belittle someone. Besides that, the question had already been answered by a previous poster months ago. So what little substance there actually was in the offending post added absolutely nothing to the knowledge base. I'll stop flogging this poor dead pony now.

And the tech was incorect. A Chevy 44 is stronger then a scoutii 44. The axle tubes are thicker, the stub shafts are bigger and you get internal locking hubs.
