front locker

Ok, this is what I got. A 76 scoutii with the norm 345/727/20 combo. Its got Dana 44's and 33" tires. I have 4.10 gears and a detroit in the back. My question is what are u guys running with in the front end? It needs to be streetable and I dont want to really fork over the cash for another expensive locker. What do u guys think about lok-rite or aussie lockers. How well do posi's hold up on the trail?

For the front they are just fine. They do not hold up in the rear. I ran one for about 4 years in the front on a 44 and never had any problems with it. As a mater of fact it's still going strong under someone else's rig.

Edit: I'm talking about a lockrite.

Ditto. I've run a lockright for about 10 years now. The same one has been in about 8 different axles with no problems.

We carry the new spartan lockers which are the same thing as a lockrite or ez locker. Current price for a 30 spline Dana 44 version is currently $235. If you want a limited slip then either a Auburn Gear or a powrlok is a good choice to make.

I have an ARB in my front end, never had a problem.

My friend in his 78 Scout 345 t-19 33 inch tires, and a heavy foot has never had a problem with lock rit in the rear axel and the front axel. He has busted shafts in both and the lock rit survived.

I'd try the spartan if I was building a d44 now. The price is right and if they are like the rest of them it should be fine....
