So......here goes. 1974 Scout II. Front pulled to the right, so here are the things I replaced trying to fix it. Replaced the booster and mc, replaced the prop valve, new pads all the way around and adjusted. Bench bled mc and adjusted booster rod (made it longer), bled entire system many times....brakes worked ok for a week, but still pull to the left when I brake hard. Today on a long drive, it started pulling hard in both directions (after braking). When I got home brakes were locked up and smokin hot !! After reading other posts, I released bleeder valve, fluid came out (small amount), but piston pressure was not relieved. I had to beat the calipers of with a hammer..

I am going to purchase new braided front lines in case of ballooning possibilites and new pads and calipers......I pray this is will fix my braking issues........please pass on some knowledge to !!!:icon_sad:

Only one fix I can think of that would eliviate your
symptoms, rebuild or replace the calipers.
Sounds like the pistons are binding. If it was a hydraulic pressure residule issue, the calipers would have released when you loosened the bleeders.

Before removing the old units, bleed the system real good so your new calipers do not get contaminated.

:yikes: thanks for the info!, I will post what happens.......so I got it all put back together (braided front brake lines and new calipers), when I bleed the brakes the front reservoir over flows!!! Aaaagh, as I pump the brakes the fluid acts as if it is transfering to the fluid to the other reservoir. Fluid is coming out at each tire too. What the heck is going on??? Please help.......need to get this thing back on the road asap cant find an answer in the manual

Thats normal. Just place the cap over the top of the reservoir so it doesn't spew fluid all over the place while your bleeding the system.

From my vw days the one thing I learned was when the brakes are locking like that its because the soft lines up to the the slave cylinder needed replacing. Strange anomaly for sure but I was amazed when it was the culprit every time...

My 67 power wagon was doing the same thing on the passenger side. I just changed the front over to disc brake last weekend, and sure nuff, when I was pulling everything apart the right side hose outer rubber casing was all broken up. Im sure that was the problem, and it had been doing the same thing on and off for a good few years. Needless to say with those sweet 8 lug rotors and Chevy calipers that baby doesn't have anymore pulling or stopping problems.... = )

its too bad you went through replacing the whole system when the actual problem was probably those hoses all along....

If you saved the old parts you might want to hawk them on the parts for sale list because im sure they're still in okay shape...?
