Front Disc Conversion?

Hey guys. Here's my predicament: I've got a 78, 2wd terra (read useless) and I just bought a 74 4wd Scout II. The 74 has drums on the front, but has all the 4wd goodies I want, and the terra has discs on the front, but no go bits. Can I swap the drums for discs or should I just find a front axle out of a newer Scout? Thanks!

You can swap it but it is most lkely a Dana 30 (read useless) front axle. If it is a Dana 44 then you are all set. Make sure the gear ratios match before using 4 wheel drive.

Awesome. The fronts May not be exactly what I'm after, but I'm just trying to get the thing snow-going before winter. It doesn't have to be unstoppable... Yet. Thanks for the help!
