FRANTZ Oil filter system

hello out there in IHC land!

Ways back in 1979, when I bought my Traveler, a year later I bought a FRANTZ oil filter system and installed it on my Traveler. I used it until 1987 when I garaged my Scout. Now that it's back on the road (with a new dealer engine- 345), I was contemplating reconnecting it up. Is anybody out there familiar with the FRANTZ oil filter system, and any thoughts on it? I do realize that today's oils and filters are much improved since the 1970s but am curious about the FRANTZ system and its benefits, or lack of?

I am very familiar with them and MotorGuard (used to be a MotorGuard sales rep). The celulose rolls (Toilet Paper) remove very fine particulates and moisture from the oil. I've had people pull a used sample of oil and a fresh one from from the drum. The used oil came back cleaner the the fresh! Right now I have a Frantz oil filter on a Witte BD diesel engine. I just bought a couple of filters from Frantz for it too. They now make a synthetic filter element that is supposed to last much longer than the TP. The thing to watch out for with the TP filters is excess moisture, they will blow a hole through the filter if they get to wet. An oil pressure gauge on the input can help you know if this has happened.
 
I am getting my 56 S-120 back on the road and would like a line on a filter kit that can be installed on the BD240 engine. My first S-120 had an OEM canister type filter. Is there a kit of any manufacture out there that might work. Would prefer a united that uses a modern screw on filter. The OEM unit was, to say the least, messy!

I remember the old "toilet paper" element filters. The were actually so good that the removed some of the additives back then.
 
The Frantz and MotorGuard filters are still available. I changed the Frantz filter and expected a mess and found it to be supprisingly clean. Just make sure the filter drains in to the crankcase when the engine is not running.
