Just picked up this 73 scout. 85 ford 302HO mated to SM465 to NP205 running to D44s with ARBs and 4:56 gears. Seems like newer frame and cab was put on but I suspect original wires? There’s lots of altered wires and it’s got a kill switch under the dash because there’s a drain in the system that if I don’t kill the electrical while not running the battery will be dead in less than 2 beers at the bar...choices? Chase the old wiring issues like Rocky chasing chickens or pony up for new wires and learn how to install. What says y’all?

ok what kind of kill switch do you have kills power to everything ?

when you turn off the motor can you turn it off with the key or do you have to use the kill switch to get the motor off ?

It’s a battery isolater switch mounted under dash directly from battery. When I hit the switch it does not kill the motor. But if the switch isn’t in the on position the motor will not start.

You can try to isolate the circuit with the parasitic drain as follows:
Disconnect the battery negative cable. Take an incandescent test probe and connect the gator clip end to the loose NEG cable clamp. Ensure that all normal lights, switches and accessories are turned off and that the doors are closed. Probe the battery NEG terminal and you should see the tester illuminate solidly. Now pull one fuse, any fuse from the fuse block and probe the NEG terminal again. If the light stays on, replace that fuse and try the next one until you hopefully land on one that makes the probe go dark. That's your culprit circuit. Some of the fuses protect more than one circuit, so you may still have to do a further process of elimination, but at least you will have narrowed down the possibilities greatly.
