V8 IH p/n 424 008 c3
more specifics are necessary. Did you perform an engine or trans swap? What was the original equipment that is no longer being used? All IH 304-345-392 engines that came mated to a 727 auto used the same flexplate. As a side note, the IH 727 can also be mated to an IH 266 v8, but these two items were never coupled together as an original drive train package, since the 266 was discontinued prior to the usage of the tf 727 in IH vehicles. IH engines were externally balanced as a final part of the assembly process and the ring gear is part of that balance equation. There does not seem to be a high occurrence of balance issues created by utilizing a 727 flexpate from one IH v8 on a different v8 engine, but the possibility, while slim does exist. A flexplate from an IH I-4/727 combo will fit the v8 engine and vice-versa, but doing so will create major balance issues and should not be attempted.
