So.... I went mudding first time the other day and got royaly stuck. Trying to get out I managed to snap my front drive shaft
(it hit the flywheel ring gear) no big deal right.... Well, then I snaped eaither my ring gear or pinion gear. Now for the question. Anyone know where I can find a replacement r&p set and front drive shaft?

Sorry, its a 62 Scout 80 Dana 27's f&r I got it outa the hole but now it wont go anywhere. I think ima weld the front drive shaft back together to get it out

I traded them for a 152 with 38k on it. Sure does run good. Kinda wish I had the 44's now. On a nother note I might be tading me 90 model silverado for a nice 73 Scout.

Update.. I finaly got the Scout outa the woods. Welded the front drive shaft back together and drove it out with fwd. Im lost as to whats wrong with the rear axle. I pulled off the right rear tire and found that if you put the Scout in gear (any gear) you can spin the plate with the lug bolts on it but the large castle nut dosnt spin. Is there some kinda key pin or shear pin in there?

The d27 and d44 axles used under the Scout 80 ans some Scout 800 apps are a "tapered axle design. That means the rear hubs are retained to the axle through the use of a "taper fit" with a straight key to locate the hub on the axle end.

The hub has broken loose on it's taper, which in turn allowed the key to shear.

You will have to remove the retaining nut and washer from the axle end, then use the appropriate tapered hub puller to full the hub to prevent damage.

See this thread for some service information...and...you really need to find a service manual if you are gonna work on this stuff:
