I am going to upgrade my transfer case to a Dana 300 and I was wondering what is the best oil for it.
I am also replacing my axles. What oil is ideal for them?

Thanks, Joe

Mayben says!!!! Straight 50 weight motor oil in the transfer case, pure ol dino shizz. Straight up gear oil in the axles unless you have power lok or trac lok, then you'll need to add the additive. Unless you use a premium brand such as swepco, or some other unmentionable stuff from some other manufacturer designed for limited slip axles.
I'm runnin sraight 50 in my d20 and it shifts great and makes no noise, in my axles, im running eaton road ranger 75/90 its full synthetic heavy truck lube. Havin good luck with that for now. Plus it was free, cant turn down a free 55 drum of gear oil.

Thanks, glad you mentioned the additive I have a full floating axle conversion, detroit locker with 4.88 gears in rear and the front axle has a powerlock differential. What type of additive do I need, if I go to napa and ask for an additive will they know what I am talking about?

Sorry for the late reply, we were on vacation and just returned late last night (1/16).

You can also use swepco 210 - 80w140 gear oil in both the tf case and the axles... It does not have yellow metal compatibility problems like other gl-5 gear oils, and it will make the lubrication issue much easier by only having to use one product in all three boxes.

It is available from ihon
