Hello all,
I've never restored anything, but always loved scouts and wanted a Scout 80/800. Really couldn't justify it, until it became an opportunity for my 15 year old son and I to spend time together.

So here it is, 1965 Scout 80. I've attached the LST and some pics...

End state is a safe, reliable, good looking and fun to drive Scout. Not big into off roading, but want it to be capable as any Scout should be.

Here is what I pulled off the LST:
front axel: fa-14 02014 dana27 driving 2000# - mt113,123 - Scout 80.800,a,b

steering: s-14 05014 sl-52 ross manual - mt110,113,118 - c100,c1000,d1000,80,1000a

clutch: 11103 10" 6 spring - mt110,113,118,123 - light line,Scout

engine: e-95 12095 4-152 gas - mt110,113,118

transmission: t-14 13014 t-90 warner 3 speed, 4x4 - mt113,123,130

transfer case: tc-144 13144 Dana #18 - mt113,136

rear axel: ra-14 14014 Dana 27 w/powerlock - mt113

you guys who know a lot about this stuff please sound off with your thoughts from the LST and advice on where to start the build.

Congratulations on your Scout! It looks good!!

My thoughts would be:

Dana 44s front and rear. You could get them from a Scout 2. If you get the front from a newer Scout you would have disc brakes. Then of course add posi or lockers whatever you like.

A set of lift springs

new tires and wheels, 31 10.50 15 would be a good choice, but up to you.

Fuel injection on the engine

when you upload more than one picture you can display them all by clicking the paper clip icon above the text box. After uploading there will be an option "display all"

I would go wagoneer sj narrow d44's, that way you keep the rear pumpkin offset. The u-joints will last longer that way.

Weber 32/36 carb, pertronix electronic ignition, bigger coil and wires...as long as the engine checks out, do a dry/wet compression test.

Thanks guys. I found a couple of Dana 35s (I think) out of grand cherokee here local. It has disc all the way around... What do I need to know or look for when looking at new axels?

I was thinking 31's or 33's for the tires...how much lift would I need?

Can I add fuel injection to the 4 cyl?

Really enjoying the interaction planning process.

Andy, tell me more about adding fuel injection to the 4 cyl engine. Does have enough power when I upgrade to Dana 44's and 31" tires? Thnx

If there late model axles the front pumpkin is on the wrong side.

No, the only other Scout it ever owned and sold was a Scout II I sold 15 or so years ago back in ohio...I wish we had a bigger Scout community here in the tulsa area, but I haven't found anyone else around here....

Well I have been working on a 63 80 for several years on and off. Finally have it out of paint and the mechanics shop is doing a final test and tune the week. It looked very similar to the one you have picture. I have found that oklahoma city has a pretty good following and a couple of clubs. If you are ever looking for parts etc. We have a pretty good group of resources in okc.best of luck on your resto!
