Hello all:
I am in need of some input. I currently have a '79 ss II which is getting ready for a frame-off re-do. I am sure its time for an engine overhaul, so I could use some input for my goals for the motor.
It is the stock 345 with a .030 over bore. My goal is to achieve 250+ hp and upwards of 400 lbs/ft of torque and maintain best longevity and durability of the motor. It will be a daily driver and could see some long road trips. I do plan to swap out the 727 with a 700-r4 for the over-drive.
With the exception of the over-bore, consider the motor a clean slate. I do have an aluminum spread-bore intake I bought for it, still in the box, which has been drilled for efi (the holes are plugged) if I decide to go that route.
So, I could use as much information possible.
Thanks,
jim
