Engine bay paint

In the process of replacing freeze plugs, seals and since the engine is out I have decided to paint the engine bay. One friend suggest paint the bay the original color. My intention was to paint it gray. The engine had been freshly painted red and brackets are black. Sounds petty and yes it is my truck so I should be able to do as I please.

Any input?

I think you should painstakingly spend hours stripping the freshly painted engine and paint it gray. Perhaps the grease will show better.

The truck has 61k on the clock and under the hood, really no leaks, just sand. I have pressure washed, scuffed the surface and treated all areas with Prep & Etch. I'm thinking the red & black engine will 'stand out'. After a few commitments I'll follow through.

Thanks for the input!

IH engine bays were all body color if I recall.
Yes the engine bay is/was body color but somewhere a hundred years ago, it appears the brakes failed and the left front was crunched. Also during that time frame a black rattle can was applied to limited areas.
