Empty at 1/4 tank... fuel gauge or send unit?

I've got a virgin 1978 kali-smogger that runs outta gas at just under 1/4 tank.

Is this just a bend tweak on the sending unit arm or should I be barking up another tree? (gauge in dash? Etc..)


345, 727, 19gal tank

side note: what's the easiest way to replace the 2 hoses on the top of the tank? (I assume it's a drop the whole tank deal...)

I might just do all this at once....new lines, fix guage, fix broken nipples on liquid/vapor separator. Yadda yadda it never really ends.....get ready for the next fix...

Sending unit would have more of a chance of going bad than your gauge. Take a resistance measurement of the sender circuit at full, half and empty.
