Electrically Stunted

Guys, need a little help. 64 Scout 80 with a 196. I have looked at a lot of wiring diagrams and I’m confused. I purchased a DUI Distributor along with 105 amp self-exciting alternator, new midsize case starter, new battery and the Scout manual. I have no clue how to wire this, I’ve seen the battery run to the starter, also battery run to something mounted to the firewall then to the starter. I also have a 14 circuit Kwick wire setup in the box that I’m assuming will play a part in how everything is wired. Any advise is appreciated. The Scout had no wires in it when purchased.

Thanks

Awesome....you purchased a non-running Scout 80 with no wiring system installed at all ?!?!?
Do you have any automotive electrical experience ?
Follow the instructions that came in your Kwick wire setup.
Alternator uses one wire.
DUI uses one wire.
Use your Scout service manual.

In the link below, you'll find a Scout 80 electrical schematic. Both generator and alternator versions are there.

This is not a good project for a beginner.

Thanks for the link Robert, I'm quickly learning that this is not a good project for a beginner. I've owned a few Scouts and have done minor things to the previous rigs. I found a Scout with a great body, less engine and purchased it. We have done a lot of work to it, SOA D44 with disc brakes front and rear. The Scout came without a motor, we rebuilt a 196 out of an 800 and dropped it in with a 4 speed trans. My question might not have been clear enough, by adding the DUI and the quick wire it allowed us to remove the voltage regulator, witch I figured out from research. After asking a lot of questions, I have somewhat of a handle on how things are going to work. Visually I am trying to figure out how the wires will run. This is my sons scout, were having fun working on it, and not in a real hurry.

Nice Scout!! Great project to do with you son.
The schematics will give you all you should need to accomplish the wiring job. Just take your time and ask questions here. The good thing is that the Scout 80 is about as simple as it gets.
