Robert,
thank you for all your help. I installed an air/fuel ratio gauge and put a vacuum gauge in the cab. I have the 1405 carb, that is 16% richer than the 1406 in it's stock configuration I ended up going leaner on the cruise and power modes. I went two stages leaner on both. I also went two stages leaner on the secondaries. (setting #24 on the 1405 chart) this put me lean on the cruise mode, but the power mode felt much crisper and the motor ran up in rpm much smoother. I then changed to setting # 21. This made it richer in the cruise mode and left the power mode the same. This felt good, but I still had a lean spot just before the transition to power mode. I ended up changing the orange springs to pink ones. This helped the transition. I still have a lean spot at wot. This occurs just past 3200 rpm the a/f gauge goes lean. I am going to richen up the secondaries one stage and see if this cures my wot lean spot.
Fyi I am at 430' above sea level. I have the schneider 131-h cam. Headers, msd box, pertronix igniter, true duels all the way back and a crossover pipe.
