I have been driving harvest truck again this season.
Part of the season I have been hauling green peas.
A couple of the pea harvest trucks have been ihc 10-wheel flat bed trucks. Both have dt466's under the hood with 5-speed allisons.
Neither one could ever hope to win a beauty contest.
Neither one could ever hope to win any sort of speed race (one should have a calendar instead of a speedometer).
But both of them keep plugging away despite the fact both have over 500k on the odometer.
What is most amazing about them is even though we cross the scales with 10-14 tons of product on board both are averaging close to 10 mpg.
The adage about slow and steady wins the race sure holds true with these two well worn 'binders.
