Howdy, I am new to the Scout world, picked up a 73 Scout II 2 years ago. It has the Dana 30 front and d44 rear. The engine is a 345 4bbl and it has a t18 4spd trans. The engine runs ok but is in need of a rebuild. I have found a 77 Scout II that is a 1 owner. It is all original. Body and frame are pretty much shot, but it has a nice running 304. The build sheet says it has a t427(??)wide ratio 4spd and gr3.54 axles with tracloc. It also has a newer dual exhaust on it.
I wanted to know if it would be an ez swap to take the entire drive line (axles, engine, transmission and xfer case, and dual exhaust) from the 77 and put it in my 73? It seems it should be a direct fit since it is pretty much the same truck I would guess - just dont want to start and run into stuff not bolting/lining up.
This would really be a good solution to keep me on the road until I get time and money to rebuild my 345 set up. Btw, I know the 77 has disc brakes up front but my 73 also is currently running disc brakes up front - must have been converted before I got it.
Any advice or help I could gain here is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
