Dragged it home, now what?

I know internationals rust. And know there are lots of parts to fix it. At what point do you say, "I'll just part it out"? Right now I have more questions than answeres. Perhaps someone can help with the next step. My 72 scoutii has a 345 with a 3 speed. Got the engine running this last weekend. Their are good parts from the firewall forward, but the floor, body mounts, rear quarters are pretty bad shape. And yes the wiring is more complicated than a spider's web. Frame, good, axles assumed good. Top, is even rusted thru. I'd like to take the body off the frame, roll it over and go to work. Is this a simple process replacing the floor, body mounts? And keeping it all lined up? Or better left to the experts? The mechanics on the frame, engine and tranny I can handle. The body work shows my ignorant side. I would welcome any attack strategies.

What rust? Keep it. Beat it. Love it. Its a Scout

floor pans are simple, really a Scout is one of the laziest vehicles ever built. Pretty easy to take a Scout apart and slap it back together.

If you have a place to do it. And time to do it. Seems like you could do it.

If you're ever flying through checoath look for my uncles brown terra

Welcome
"dragged it home, now what?"

start wrenching on it

it all boils down to what you want to use it for. Mostly commute, with occasional dirt road? Combined commute and off-road? Or strictly off-road?

More often than not, some of the builds are done in stages. For starter, that spaghetti ya call wiring does need attention. IHPA does sell complete new wire harnesses. Before you even think of cranking of that power plant, check the oil and do a pre-oil sequence.

I'll be tickled when I can drive it down the drive way, park it in the street and have an empty garage for a little while. :icon_lol: don't plan on hard off roading, just some upgrades, new metal, paint. Would like to leave at my dads farm in nebraska and get a 30 mpg car for the commute from ok. Use it in the pasture and around the farm. My thirsty silverado is an expensive hiway cruiser.
