Drag Link too long

I have a rhd Scout II and I added a power steering box to my truck. When I did this I had to mount the new box on the inside of the frame rail. The problem that I now have is that my drag link is of course too long. Can I just cut the drag link and then weld it back together to make it shorter? What are my options?

Thanks,
steve

I would say no. Even a certified welder won't do it.

If you sleeve it with 1/4 wall dob tubing and miter cut the sleeve ends it will be very strong. Bad news is the oem drag link is a forging and a heat cycle from welding can make it very brittle and subject to breakage.

Better to have one built from dom tubing and welded by a certified welder.

It is not terribly difficult but costly to aquire tools and equipment to do in right. I would call Jeff and see what he would want to build you one.
