Do I need to hunt for another harmonic balancer?

Hi All, while I wait for my IH 345 engine to be rebuilt I've been busy cleaning and sandblasting various brackets, pulleys etc. for powder coating. The deeper I get in to this Scout II I discover more parts that need repaired or replaced. While cleaning the harmonic balancer I noticed the inner pulley wheel is chipped and there is some scoring marks on the inner sleeve. Also how does the wear look on the outer sleeve. I believe this engine had 95,000 miles. From the pictures I've attached can I get some suggestions? Any input is always appreciated. Thanks.

There's a lot of issues with that harmonic balancer. I'd look for another one. IIRC the inner pulley is for power steering, do you planon using it?

The chipped pulley is not used on Scout applications. That balancer otherwise does look rough but rebuildable. If you are having the engine rebuilt, you should have the dampner rebuilt too, and then balance the entire rotating assembly so the engine feels as smooth as it did the day it came from the factory. IHPA can either have your dampner rebuilt or swap you out if we have one on the shelf. Regardless, it is best to stay with your original dampner if you are not balancing the rotating assembly so that the overall balance of the engine doesn't get tweaked as much. Also, put gasket sealer on the inside of the dampner when reinstalling to keep oil from leaking past the snub of the crankshaft.

Jeff, thanks. I just ordered one of your rebuilt harmonic balancers. So that I understand correctly, even though this did not come with the original engine, the engine rebuild shop can balance this rebuilt harmonic balancer when they balance my rotating assembly?

They will want to balance it altogether as they won't be able to balance the rotating assembly without the dampner. You will also want to make sure they have the flexplate (if auto transmission) or the flywheel and clutch plate so that the entire rotating assembly gets balanced as an assembly for the best and smoothest results.
