So, do I really need dust covers on my Dana 44? I have an old cj to which I fitted disc brakes. It has no dust covers and I have had no problems after three years of hard use. The reason I ask is that the two dust covers off this axle are in bad shape. I am thinking of just cutting out and using their center discs so that the thickness of the "stack" on the end of the axle won't change. Any advice?
