Dip Stick

Hey everybody: I'm in the middle of resealing my transmission and transfer case (727 / dana20) and I noticed the dipstick I have I don't think is original. First of all it has a Ford p/n dizp-7a020-aa2. I'ts 20" long from tip to the rubber stopper and it is stamped to "check when hot idling in park" and "warranty requires esw m2c33-f (type f) oil". Does anybody know their dipstick length and how far up from the tip the "add / don't add any fluid between arrows"? I do know to use dexron iii and check fluid level in neutral, just want to make sure I'm running the correct level. Thanks all, Danny

Not exactly sure on the measurements. The hoop that one uses to pull the dipstick out on mine was broken off during its life time. And that little cap and seal is all that's holding my stick inplace. I'm currently unaware of stock oem replacements. I May end up ordering one up of the lokar varity.

This is not an IH-specific part. All 727 dipstick tubes and sticks are the same. Simply hit a pick and pull and source a proper replacement from a chrysler vehicle from the 60's thru 80's. If that is not an option for you, send me a pm and I'll get you pointed in another. At any rate, I wouldn't run some cobbled mystery part in place of the real mccoy, especially when they are so plentiful.

Thanks for the reply trevor. I'll look at the local p&p and see what I can find. I could also probably source one from the local chrysler dealer. Dan
