Differential Oil

I have a 1967 Scout 800 with a Dana 27 rear (14014) axel with Power lock. The tag on the diff says to use a limited slip gear oil. I am not sure what to use. Some are synthetics, some don't have any additive. Should I even be using a synthetic? What weight oil - am in Colorado. Any suggestions? Thx

Any 90wt oil for limited slip should work fine. Unless its been rebuilt recently the clutches are to worn to make a difference. If it chatters on sharp turns put a bottle of additive in.

When you say 90W for a limited slip, do you mean any GL4 type oil, as opposed to the GL5 lubes, that are not compatible with yellow metal? Or is there a specific GL4 lube for limited slips? Also, would the same lube be compatible for the transmission?

GL5 for Hypoid gears is the oil. It should say so on the bottle. For limited slip, particularly PwrLok, I also add some ounces of limited slip additive. The best is Ford's XL-3 found at a Ford dealer/shop. It's not expensive. I haven't used synthetic, regular mineral base works for me.
