Diesel T19 vs gas T19

Quick question, will a diesel t19 directly replace a standard gas engine t19 without any mods. Assuming with a diesel 6 the shifter moves back a little, not worried about that, mainly length of input shaft, splines, pilot bushing. Working on a 75 Scout II and want to put in a t19 out of an 80 diesel Scout II.
 
I did exactly that conversion into my '74 Scout last summer. However in my case the t19 was replacing a t18. There is no difference between a gas and diesel t19. In my case the rear motor mount changed and a bit of grinding was needed on the trans to clear the d20 shifter.
 
Thanks for the answers, looking to purchase a t19 wide from an 80 diesel Scout to replace the t19 close I'm currently running. Now a not so easy question, there's also a d300 available that came with the t19 wide, but the bull gear at the back of the t19 that mates to the d300 is missing. Question is, is that gear common to d20s or is it unobtanium (one year only Scout only transfer case)? Couldn't find the gears in my parts manual.

you just need a manual 6 spline d300 bull gear (the automatic bull gears are 23 spline). The d20 and d300 bull gears are different. Jeff should be able to get you one if you can't find one anywhere else. For some reason when people take the t-cases of the trannies, they leave the bull gear on the back of the tranny, or lose it, and you're left with a worthless t-case = very frustrating!
 
Thanks Scout burton, turns out the guy I'm buying it from is a smart guy like you, and the gear is actually laying inside the transfer case! Live and learn.
