Dana 44 rear drums

My Dana 44 is from a Scout II. Has anyone changed their rear drum brakes to say, f*rd 11x 2 1/4?

Seems to me, there May be backing plates out there that would allow f*rd brakes to be used.
The advantage as I see it is; because the 9" f is so popular, brake parts are readily available, and drums available with any bolt pattern and hole diameters at reasonable prices. I've been asking around if f*rd drums would work on the Scout II axle, but have not found an answer yet.

I think the backing plates May need to be changed to accomodate the axle wheel mounting surface distance, from the backing plate mounting surface. Who knows?

Guess what, obtaining new drums for a Scout II app is no problem at all, why not use easily obtained parts instead of doing a workaround?

How often does one have to buy/swap drums? I'm running drums on stuff that is over 40 years old and not particularly well maintained at all.

All drum brake parts for the Scout II app are readily available from both ihon and any parts house.

Uh,, I guess you're right.
I get locked into a notion and my brakes fail.
I needed some drums and didn't want to go through the nosebleed of drilling them to 5 on 4.75 to fit my wheels and axles. Thanks for the wakeup.
