How do I find out if my Scout has Dana 44 on it?

Use this guide for making a positive identification regarding any common driving axle:

axle/differential identification at http://www.4wheelnoffroad.com/

Then pull the bill of materials numbers off any spicer/Dana drive axle and post it here, we'll then tell you what it's "supposed" to be.

There are many questions just like yours right here in this sub-forum including pictures. Have you taken the time to scan through those yet?

Thanks I still wasn't able to figure it out. All I know is on the rear axle it has 44-1 on it. And I can't see any numbers on the front axle.

If the rear axle says "44" on the housing, then it's a Dana/spicer 44.

If the front axle has "44" cast in the center section also, then...it's a 44. If it does not, then it's a 30 or a 27.

rear is a 44 cause it has a 44 on it I can't see or feel anything on the front casing. If it's not a 44 what 44s will fit it? I was told a 79 blazer would fit with some modifications.

Major modifications. The width is wrong. The spring perch location is wrong. A Scout II d44 fa is a much closer fit, but even that won't be a direct bolt in. Making sure the axle gear ratios match up is also important. A d44 fa means disk brakes, so you need to account for that also with an appropriate power booster, proportioning valve, and flexible lines. What are you trying to accomplish with this vehicle?
