Little background first I have a '63 scout 80 with the T-90 and Dana 18. Both the transmission and t-case were rebuilt by me using Novak kits. When I did the rebuild I also install an new Saturn overdrive from herm the overdrive guy. the transmission and t-case went together fine and didn't seem to have any problems. I did have a hard time getting the overdrive to work right and I don't think I got it shimmed perfect, just good enough. This was all about 5 years 1,000 miles ago. The speedometer stopped working shortly after I did all the work but I never got around to fixing it and I assumed it was the cable because the overdrive made the cable operate a a pretty extreme angle. Recently the overdrive started popping into neutral in direct drive and the 152 didn't really have enough power for it anyway so I decided to pull it and fix the speedo while I was in there. I did find evidence of failure starting in the overdrive but it hadn't grenaded yet (metal shavings worn parts ect.) I figured out the speedo cable and speedometer itself were fine so pulled the speedo gear to investigate. I found the speedo gears had sheared teeth but also I found tiny needle bearings in the rear bearing housing that I do not recognize and I cannot determine Where they came from. I also found meatal shavings that didn't come from the speedo gear. I will attach pictures.
Does anyone recognize these needle bearings and have any idea where they came from. I don't want to put it back together until I can determine where they came from
