D60 R&P ratio cutoff?

I know there's a cutoff when it comes to swapping r&p ratios in d44's... Ie 3.73 and below on one end and 3.92 and up on the other. Does a similar scenario apply to the d60's?

For a Dana/spicer 60 series axle, the carrier cutoff is 4.56 and down uses one size, the 4.10 and higher uses another size. Different cutoffs as compared to a Dana/spicer 44.

Thanks Mike. Kinda cornfusing. Not much room between 4.56 and down to 4.10 and up. What if a person wanted to put say lets say d60 3.73 gears into a 4.10 housing or vice-versa? Could it be done?

Unless I'm just stuppid on jerry juice and getting my numerical reff's mixed up with my lower/versus higher gearing. In that case it would make sense.

That would work fine... 2 & 3 series (along with 4.10) go on a 4.10 carrier .

4, 5, 6, & 7 series gears go on a 4.56 carrier.

Iirc they don't make (or at least they are very rare) 4.27s for d60s.

Thanks mocha. Good to know. It pains me to say it, but this time I had the altoids instead of mayben. First time for everything. I just wasn't thinking in terms of higher numerically = lower gearing and so on. If jerry hadn't clouded my brain function, I wouldn't of needed to ask the clarifying question.

Motive gear makes a 4.30 gear set that works on a 4.11 down (3 series) carrier. Got one in my d60. Sets up real easy too
