cow mountain

do you know any thing about the cantina for the con. Labor day weekend?

This is an “I think”.

It’s an annual fund raising taco feed that primarily benefits the friend of the rubicon. It’s held over labor day at the loon lake trailhead. Mike elrod and his tdo group first started this tradition several years ago. This could be its 5th or 6th year.

I know they raise some big bucks towards fotr. Some May go to the blue ribbon coalition. They have some heavy hitters as sponsors.

what do you think of a cow mt overnighter? It would be a good way of getting to know the guys up north.

I asked the other Craig and he responded with this:

"sounds a lot like hollister, except maybe not as developed. They don’t offer water and flush toilets that I saw. I did see 4x4 groups have been building 4x4 courses there."

he also provided the attached map which has some good info and shows trail difficulty and what is allowed (e.g. Motorcycle, atv, 4x4). It looks like the trails are mostly shared.

Would this be for the May trip? Or are we going to do hollister in May and cow mtn another date? Either way sounds like it should be a good time.
