couple questions before I order

I was going through your Stumpy build and noticed you used a propotioning valve when disc brakes were added. Is that a combo or just a prop valve? I already ordered the universal prop valve from you, but understand a combo valve would be better.

Also, this May be a dumb question, I put in sii axles in with discs in front. It would be wise to buy the lines to the caliper correct. I have a more detailed explanation/question in the brake section but no one had responded.

For the disc brake conversion on your Scout, the smaller reservoir is the rear drum brakes and the larger is for the front disc brakes.

I would run a short 3/16" line to your prop valve and then back to the rear. On the front, run a 1/4" line to a tee where the drivers brake hose would be and continue around the front of the frame under the radiator to the passenger brake hose location. You just need a real short hardline bent in a 90 at the drivers side tee to connect to the brake hose. The brake hoses should be moved to the drivers and passenger side frame rails above the calipers like a sii.

The adjustable proportioning valve is only needed in the rear and actually gives you a more finite adjustment vs the standard sii one. You can add/subtract fluid bias to get the most out of your braking system by doing some "panic" stops and adjusting accordingly. The front and rear brakes should lock up at the same time to be ideal.

If you are running the stock hydraulic brake light switch then you will need a tee like you are saying right out of the mc to thread that in to. You can also remove your brake pedal stop on the pedal assembly and install the modern version if you would like:brake light switch for Scout 800, Scout II, terra, traveler, IH pickup, Travelall & travelette - IH Parts America These are available at most auto parts stores as it is also a GM switch. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! It helped quite a bit. So that is just a prop valve not a combo? Is there any reason that they used that in the build vs an adjustable one? Do you guys sell a combo valve? Thanks again.

The mbm-apv-1 prop valve that you bought will work just fine if not better (fine tuning). The front line going to the brakes directly is all that is needed.

The sii prop valve front line portion is just a junction and does not serve any biasing purpose. If a brake failure occurs a spool valve will move inside and shut off the side that failed. That is the added safety feature that the sii style valves have over the adjustable ones. Sii prop valves look more "factory" and the disc brake kit that we sell for the early scouts includes that with it, hence why Jeff used that on his build. Thanks.
