Clutch Question

I May be picking up a 392 from a school bus this weekend, my 345 is geting a little tired. I am also needing to replace the clutch (t19 close) and no better time than during an engine swap. Are all sv clutches the same or are they transmission dependant? Reason for asking is that if the bus clutch is good, I hope to just use it's clutch.

Thanks,

No...all clutches are not the same...though there is some "interchangeability" depending upon exactly what system is currently installed, and what system you want to use.

Check this active thread:

Pull the dust covers on both units and make a positive I.d. The lineset ticket callout don't mean anything in this regard if the clutch has been previously serviced.

Some flywheels May only be drilled for a 10" clutch cover, some for only 10" or 11", and some for all three or only a 12" cover.

And proper matching of the flywheel to the engine is critical in order to maintain engine balance, so it's best to not even think about swapping around flywheels amongst these motors unless ya expect it to shake. Bandaid/cure for that...have any replacement flywheel/clutch assembly neutral balanced.
