Clearance Issues

I have a 64-80 that im doing a 196 and a t-18 swap into. I have heard that the fire wall needs to be dented some to allow removal of the valve cover. Is there any truth in this? Also are there any other clearance issues that I need to be aware of. I have all new mounts for both and I do know that the trans cross member will need to be moved back to accomidate the larger trans but would like to stay ahead of the ball instead of behind it. Thanks

The 196 is taller than the 152, so yes it is a bit of a shoehorn job in an 80, making valve cover removal/install problematic.

With new poly body mounts in my 62 s80, I can barely wiggle the valve cover off with the 196 and 4 speed that I installed. With old flattened out body mounts I doubt that the valve cover would come off. A dent in the firewall would help that is for sure, but I haven't needed it, yet....
