Class project

Ok here we go… I am teaching an automotive technology program in a high school in northern mn. Auto is not my strongest subject and I probably have the least experience in it when compared to construction or manufacturing. We will be doing other stuff in the auto shop too, not just the Scout project. Just dropped it off at work today.
What I know it needs:
1.floor pans have been fixed before but need to be redone
2. Rockers need to be replaced
3. The whole back “box floor “ needs to be replaced including the wheel wells
4.upper back hatch is shot “but has good glass”
5. I want to mount the gas tank under the truck so I can use the back space
first things first. Got the post from old iron and am going to do the oil pump test and get some fluid moving then try to start it. To make sure it runs and drives. All I know is it has been setting for 4 years but it ran and drove when it was parked. I am not planning on making a show car out of it but want to be able to use it
it is a 1970 Scout 800 with the 304 v8 4x4

Good luck with this one. Little beat up around the edges. But with lots of tlc it can be done. IH Parts America should be able to handle getting those rocker panels out to ya. Among other parts that you May need. That rear lift gat for the roof looks a little to rusty to fix, but possible. Just might be better off trying to find one that's in better condition. Some of these parts come through the clasified adds every once and awhile.

Be enteresting to see how this project goes and to see how the kids do. Keep us posted

Looks like you have your work cut out for you!

I love the baby scouts and am glad to see another one here. If you want to see what your Scout will look like stripped down, check out my 64 in deployment build.

IHPA is a great parts source. If you are looking for a new suspension (and if that thing has been pushing snow for 42 years you need a new suspension) check out the CPT kit. I used on my baby Scout and it works great. Everything you need to make it sit and drive great. It looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you...
