Checking my motor prior to setting the body down.

I'd like to fire my newly rebuilt 345 4-bbl w/Hamilton Electro Dist prior to checking for leaks & issues. I found this 2021 illustration from an earlier post & I had a few quick questions please -
1) Is there anything within this illustration that you would alter?
2) The "alternator light" is just a simple 12v marker light thats used as a breaker?
3) Can the ign switch be eliminated and just run this wire from the #1 (alt. field terminal) directly to an on/off switch?

Thank you

What you see is the best way to wire one up to for starting an engine and making sure all systems function properly.

Yes a simple 12v light of any kind can be used but a marker light and pigtail is an easy and cheap way to excite the alternator.

I would wire the ignition switch as shown in the diagram or you can move that wire from the battery to the main charge post on the alternator.
