Carl's New Ride

Sorry guy's it isn't IH, not is it IH related, except for the fact it's red. I killed the intrepid last month on the 1 day I forgot my cell phone. I ended up walking 3 miles to an exit and actually found a phone booth. After spending a small fortune in quarters, I had ryane come down and pick me up. We then drove to my parents, grabbed Dad's truck and the trailer and headed back down to I-5 to get it. I thought it was a low water/oil issue, so I filled them back up and managed to get it off the freeway, but in that short ride we realized it was dead. Monday after work I drove to the credit union, was approved for some cash and found this!!

2000 volvo s40, 1.9l turbo, leather, sun roof, cruise, cd player, heated seats and it's just damn fun to drive!! It had under 80k when I bought it and feel like I got a great deal. In fact the lady who drove it before me and had a mechanic go over it and then turned it down called to see if the auto broker still had it while I was on my drive!! I've had it for a month now, changed the oil and replaced the fuel pressure regulator in it this weekend. Strangely enough it was a weber part, made in france!!

Here's a few pics!

Nice ride!

I like the 40's. My brother (then my roomate) in law used to be a finance manager for volvo in seattle. He would get demo cars and we ran around town in style. I really liked the s40's.

Besides, I am swedish so I have to feel some pride in volvo's.

If ya keep it stored on the lot there at frye's, you can just run in and git some chinee pooter schnizz to work on it with!

Volvo was making s80's and some s40's I think without steering columns. It was all electronic sensors from the steering wheel that moved the actuators for the steering.:yikes:

lol, I have yet to find a made in china part on the car! Germany, france, belgium and the netherlands yes, china....no.

???? I think it has a column?:confused5:[/quote ]

don't fool yourself...having worked inside the factories where that series and others were/are produced, I can assure you there is much root content manufactured in those countries that change names every three years .

how about an a/c compressor sourced from a japanese company, but manufactured in korea, and purchased through a german subsidiary of the japanese parent...with internal components manufactured in australia and hardware bootlegged outta redchinee .

the belgian volvo folks abhor their swedish brothers like dawgs hate fleas . the swedish volvo folks consider their belgian counterparts to be on the same level as pond scum...and they both think of their french "partners" as socialist maggots who should have never been allowed to assemble automobiles .

it's alotta fun to get tech reps from all those jurisdictions in a sleazeeazz honky tonk and let 'em have their way with each other after several pitchers of kirin-squeeze.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know it's in there somewhere! First european car I've ever worked on, so things are still new and exciting lol!
