carb linkage question

Info first 74 Scout 2 727 auto. Ok I have removed the original 304 2 barrel engine and swapped in a 345 with a thermo bog. My question is can the linkage from the 304 2 barrel motor be used on the 345 4 barrel engine, if I swap all components. I have everything from both engines, but I had just purchased a new throttle cable for the 304 awhile back. If this is possible it will save me 50 bucks for a new throttle cable that fits the 80 model bracket. Thanks for the info. Money aint growing on the damn ground here and the ex wife cut down the freakin money tree last week in court.

The "early" throttle cable should be the design that adjust for slack by "clamping" to the retaining bracket. If so, just use the early stuff and adjust the slack as appropriate.

The later cable prolly mounts with a small bolt through the cable conduit end cap and while it has some adjustment, it's not an "infinite" adjustment. So it uses a slightly different type anchor point.

It doesn't matter which setup you use as long as you can adjust for proper slack/free-play and have full travel at wot. And ya have the appropriate end ferrule for the throttle pedal end.

Only after setting the throttle cable free-play, then verify the transmission throttle pressure control adjustment (kickdown.

Some thermoquad applications require a "u" bracket extension for the throttle cable ball stud to mount to the throttle lever on the carb in order for the cable to properly align.
