C series front sheet metal on a D series?

Hey guys, was thinking about this the other day and figured I would ask since I couldn't find anything after searching. Has anyone ever taken a c series grill, fenders, hood etc and altered it to fit onto the front of a d series truck? I know the d series is wider and the angles wouldn't line up without modification but thought it would be a cool way to get that sweet c series look and the size benefits of the d series cab.

No one has any ideas on how they would go about this? Let me know what you think about it other than the fact it would be time consuming, lol.

I was always told when you have nothing good to say don't say anything.

But since you asked.


I just think it would be way too much work to gain a couple of inches of cab room. Furthermore the added room is mostly in the width. You're not gaining head room or leg room out of the deal. I think the square top and body panels of the rear of the truck would just make the rounded front end look out of place and scabbed together. I say devote your energy to finding a c series or d series and doing what you want to it.

Thanks for the honesty, for some reason I was under the impression the d series cabs were significantly bigger than the c series. I just need to see them in person and take some measurements I guess. I sure do love the looks of the c series travelettes, I will likely just wait until I find the right one of those.

Good luck!! They are out there, you just have to keep looking. I have come across quite a few in the last few years. Actually bought two of them. The last one was one of the straightest I have ever seen. I ended up selling it to a member of the this board and it is now in utah.
