Brakes work but cut out?

I have a 79 International Scout with a 304v8, 4 speed....
The brakes seem to work but every once and a while they will completely cut out. Sometimes the pedal will be very mushy and almost go to the floor, sometimes it goes right to the floor and no brakes at all.... In the morning it seems to have good pressure and once I drive it for a minute or two its usually pretty soft....

Any suggestions helpful! Disk front and drum rear by the way!

Well, first you should look very closely for any leaks throughout the break system. A minute leak will allow air to be introduced to the system. Air and hydraulics are not a good combo. If you found the brake system to be leak free it's probably time to change the fluid so I would bleed the breaks with brand new fluid, not the crap thats been sitting in a previously opened bottle under the work bench. If that doesn't work then go look for a new master cylinder.

Hope this helps.

Ok I will start to replace master cylinder....
Is it something I would have to order from ihno or can I get it at lordco or napa.... I think the master cyl has a small leak but I cannot find where, ive tried to tighten any fittings ect but they wont budge so I assume they are in there pretty good.

There are any number of places to get a new mc. Look at ebay, the various Scout vendors and your local auto parts store. Shouldn't be too much trouble.

Ok I found one locally, and yes if I could not I deffinalty would order it here!

Well today my brakes stopped working all together.... They were there for a second and straight to the floor.... Now there is a tiny amount of pressure slows for a second and then it will just go to the floor? Still sound like master cyl? Or booster?
