Brake conversion update

1973 International Harvester 1110 pickup 258 rwd.
Just an update on the front disc conversion and a quiery,
Turned out to be a bit of a ball ache, ended up new hard pipes all round, front wheels didn't fit so put 11/4 inch spacers on which equals longer stub axle studs. Good news is I have fantastic brakes and stops on a sixpence / dime👍,
the quiery is that the brake pedal goes 2/3rds of travel before brakes activate and pedal is slow to return, should the brake pedal have a return spring attached to assist retraction? Any ideas
Cheers Steve

The return spring is built into the MC. If it's now sticky and you're still using the original MC, I'd guess that when the breaks were bled there was some old crud at the bottom of the cylinder that is now guming things up. That might be while the pedal moves so far too.

Hi fella
Mc was new, booster new, disc conversion new, pipelines all new, only item not new was the 4way splitter box for the pipelines.
Thanks for the reply all ideas excepted and appreciated, keep them coming 👍
Cheers Steve

Ah new mc. Did it get bench bled? I don't think it will fix the pedal return, but it might. That might also resolve the 2/3 pedal issue.

Hi mate
Okay dokey I'll check with the guy who did the work tomorrow, just been under the truck on the calipers got one bleed nipple on top and the other under possibly trapped air? And not from the curry I had last night 😅
Cheers Steve

Trapped air would definitely do it. Perhaps both calipers are for the same side of the vehicle.
Hi fella
Managed to talk to the mechanic a short while ago he did read instructions with the mc and bench bled, as for the calipers my thoughts are as yours I'll have to check with IH parts as they supplied all parts, just wondering as brakes are working should it matter or should I change caliper?
