Binder Hauler rebuild

After a near miss with a piece of my trailer decking coming off and almost hitting dan's dodge - it was time to redeck the binder hauler.

By my calculations a few pieces of lumber and some nuts and bolts was going to be way cheaper than a dodge grill/intercooler/ac condensor/radiator setup --- yikes!

So I tore the old deck off using a skill saw to make 3 cuts across the width of the trailer - then just pryed the old boards out by hand -- most either broke the screws holding them down or tore through the screws leaving them still stuck in the trailer.

The self taping screws that remained where quickly dispatched with by hitting them with a hammer and they all just broke off flush with the cross members.

I then had to cut the front piece of flat stock steel off the trailer to allow the new boards to go back in -- it was just stitch welded in a few places so it came off in about 5 minutes.

I searched the 'internets' and found that standard doug fir is the best bang for the buck -- so off to the lumber yard for some 2x6's and a couple 2x8's.

Tossed on the new deck - drilled some new holes for carriage bolts with lock nuts -- bolted it tight -- welded the front strap back on - added a 1/2 gallon of water sealer via a pump sprayer -- and we were done!

All told I probably have 4-6 hours into it and right around $100 for wood, hardware and water sealer.

Where's the winch and dual battery box?? Us old farts can't borrow yore trailer and load schnizz without no dam winch!

Deck looks dam guud too! Guess there must be that trailer deck disease goin' arount agin, mikee dun fixed hiz up real nice too!

I think them decks rot faster 'cause of the crap you boyz haul on 'em, that ihrot is highly contagious and eats wood to.

Looks great, but I already told you that. I should take the hint and re-do mine. If the damn economy would swing back around and people would buy stuff again, I would have the $$ to fix mine. Mines a little more extensive though, new fenders, new lights, new wiring, new deck, new hitch, gusseting, and winch mount set up. Some day :(
