Binder Bee: Pines Off Road Adventure Pix

All y'all,

first off: I suck. It's been a month and I promised to upload these pix. Things got busy as they tend to do!

Anyway, here's a few select pictures from the great trail ride! Who knew that scouts could actually go "off-road?" I figgered all they was good for is totin' the longboard down to the beach for some surf and sun. Now I know what that extra lever does down to the right of the gearshift.

Thanks again for all the good people and good times up in oregon! Anyone's welcome to san diego at anytime before we head that way again next year.

Brian

p.s. If anyone knows anything about lockheed front brakes for a '70 1100 4x4......maybe you could check out the general tech forum on this IH only board and take a look at what I've posted. It would be a shame to take a hammer to such a nice truck in a pique of rage. =)

Mike,

that's October 10-12'ish? We'd actually like to! My Dad lives up in sacramento and cindy does like a napa trip.......hmmm, I guess that's how I can sell it to her.....

On the other hand, if you remember our conversations about foreclosures? I just picked one up -- across the street. I've had my eye on it...it's the proverbial ideal "worst house on the nicest block." that's liable to keep me busy for a bit getting it ready to be a rental.

Regardless, thanks for the "open seat" offer! (does the offer still stand if I'm the one in the passenger seat of your rig or does it have to be cindy?)

keep you posted.......

Ya both need to be in sumbodies ride at the rallye! I gotta camper shell that will hold two big dawgs and two kalifornikate-types!

In fact, we can arrange a phelps mountain kinda cheep thrill too if yawl want experience the total IH lifestyle! And it's free as compared to magic mountain!

Offer still stands. I'll just have to remember to keep my hand off of your knee..:dita:

good luck on the new rental. Remember it will still be there to work on after the ralley is over...

Now it all makes sense.....cindy kept telling me "I was scared, I don't think Mike was a very good driver."

I said, "why did you think that?"

she said, "Mike kept reaching over, trying to shift my left leg. He kept making the same mistake, saying 'he needed to get into low range' or something."

A rental??? And across the street is commuting distance???

And it has a garage with a couplea stalls???

And exactly why ain't ya drug that shortee peekup home then, you have more than doubled available work/storage space and ya can wander over there and work in yore skivvies after midnight!! Rent tha house...but not the garage!

Mayben,

yeah, it's actually got three stalls. I like the way you think. I can see the garage from my front porch...........hmmm, what to put in it now?

1.) a fully restored two-tone red and white '73 shorty.
2.) a wheeler/beater (probably a pre-smog Scout II)
3.) ?????????????

(mind you, these are all pre-fix-up photos. Escrow closes on the 8th. A crew is already lined up to put some spit-shine on this current neighborhood eyesore.)

Busted again! I just don't have the moves I used to...:winky: seriously though it would be great to see you both again. Plan on October 10-12. I promise to keep my hands to myself..:dita:

Brian, that is exactly the elevation I had in mind! Every third house on every street is exactly the same same except for three different "approved" color schemes"???

Don't forget I was punished and sent to live in huntington beach for 7 years before I was punished again and banished to the people's republik of the bay area/nuclear free zone.

So I know what every house in socal looks like! Was this one a twofer?? Mikee sez he's gonna start offering twofers around silverton too! But I think he means IH junkiron...haciendas.

Yep. You've got our neighborhood in so.cal. Nailed to a "t." we all follow in lockstep with our color schemes and landscape.

In fact, ever seen the movie "stepford wives?" that's pretty much our neighborhood. If you've seen the film, now you'll understand how it is I've got cindy givin' me no more lip about all the junk-iron in and around the garage(s). Things didn't used to be that way....I remember the days of lots of sass and jawin' as to why her $40k new car had to sit in the driveway while a $5k Scout sat in the garage.

The attached picture shows her the day after the "operation."

Nuthin' likea well-trained junkiron wimminfolk what knows how to use a heat gun. Of course, heatguns come natural to 'em.

'course cindi seems ta be the type who will take any flack we can dish out and throw it back at least double...so that means she's arrived in our fambly unit!

I can see a paint booth in the garageshop of the rental, vented into the jennair downdraft. Turn the utility room into a environmentally-friendly degreasing system. Park cindi's car in the drive so it looks like reglar folks live there insteada junkers, that's keeps the hoa off yore butt.

Paintbooth in the garage?

I shudder at the memory of such horrors. (see attached.)

turns out, I learned the hard way, paint is best left to the experts. I ended up doing the vast majority of the paintwork but did so at 5 times the expense and doubtless 50 times the hassle I could have just paid someone.

(I figger it did come out pretty nice though.)

say, I think I'm gonna head out to the garage right now and see if my Scout has one of those extra levers next to the shifty thingy. If it has one, does that mean it's four-wheel drive and can do that cool stuff in the dirt? That would be rad.
