Best Carb for 345?

I have a 1976 sii with a 345 and a Holley 2300. When I picked it up, it was leaking major gas so I bought a rebuild kit and went ahead and used every applicalble component. While new to this, I'm not full on stupid. Triple checked every gasket to make sure they lined up perfectly.

I am still learning to to troubleshoot the ignition, and will be posting questions in that thread accordingly. That being said, I was wondering if this carb could be improved upon for my engine? I want some seat of the pants you know what, but dont want to experiment by buying things.

Could someone who has a 345 that kicks azz let me know what their top tips are?

As far as a good carb choice, the 2300 is great. As far as seat of the pants you know what, well, you need to look at the ratings for these engines. They are not high horse power plants. They are torque monsters. Designed to move heavy stuff and do it all day. They dont rev too high and produce most of their power down low.
This being said, optimizing your ignition and your fuel delivery will greatly improve the seat of the pants feel and drivability. The engines in these trucks are like an ol tennesee mule. They will work all day and all nite just dont try and make it go fast!!!
Or it'll just sit there and hee haw at ya!!!!
